Former amateur boxer and coach at St Pancras ABC
Head coach, Brian has proven to be one of the most successful club coaches in London’s amateur boxing scene; he has many national champions to his name, including 7 times national junior champion & former British Bantamweight champion Martin Power & current English Light-heavyweight champion Peter Haymer. Prior to joining Haringey in 2001, Brian boxed and coached at St. Pancras for over twenty years. His boxers have managed to win a national title virtually every year – a record to be proud of. The culmination of years of dedication to his craft was three National ABA Senior finalists in one year (2000 – 2 winners, 1 runner up). This is a feat achieved only a couple of times before in post war years. Brian is a great motivator, astute strategist, and knows what it takes to be a winner.
A major achievement of the Haringey team was triggered by Brian’s proactive approach as he initiated the idea of taking teams of boxers to compete in Box cup tournaments in Europe. That venture planted the seed for us to develop our own, much larger tournament known as the Haringey Box Cup.
