Haringey PCABC Box Cup 2009

Haringey Police Community club have just successfully hosted the second Box Cup tournament at Ally Pally. Many months of hard work were spent putting the tournament together when we unfortunately had to contend with some last minute rule changes as our governing body insisted that boxers boxed the maximum of two consecutive days. The highly successful and original format (cleared by the chief executive last year) was to have quarter finals on Friday, Semi finals on Saturday and finals on Sunday; the rule enforcement meant groups had to be subdivided into no more than four participants and the shine was taken off the medal winners somewhat. Regardless of these changes the tournament was a great success for grass roots boxing. Clubs came from up and down the Country and we benefitted from much foreign opposition; France, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Ireland. The full entry list and results are now available. more...
